Though Graham believed that much research is necessary and that no stock screening methodology is perfect, he did give us some guidelines on how to perform initial screening techniques to limit the number of investments that should be researched further. Isis-Genzyme: Deal of the Year?

On January 7th, 2008, Genzyme (NasdaqGS: GENZ) and Isis Pharmaceuticals (NasdaqGM: ISIS) announced a partnership for the Isis cholesterol drug Mipomersen. According to the deal, Genzyme will pay Isis $325 million upfront, with the potential for $825 million more in milestone payments as the drug progresses through stage 3 trials. Read more »
